Trotzen #01: Buckow Autumn School
29.11.18
John Heartfield house in Waldsieversdorf (near Buckow).
Many years ago the little town of Buckow, located 60 km east of Berlin, was home to Bertolt Brecht and John Heartfield, two distinct but uniquely talented pioneers of politically and socially engaged art forms.
The Buckow Autumn School is an annual experimental educational format that takes its inspiration from the canonical work of these artists, drawing connections between their socio-political impact and motives, and that of the engaged arts of today. The first instalment of Buckow Autumn School took place in October 2018, introducing 20 participants from across the world to the work of Heartfield and Brecht through excursions, discussions and talks by scholars and artists.
At Trotzen 01 Sara Løve Daðadóttir, founder of Buckow Autumn School, will together with collaborators and participants introduce this new initiative in an informal setting with food, drinks and media.
